First Communion for Spring 2025

This year we have two first communion ceremonies:

Sunday April 27th at 2:00 pm for students in Ms. Principi’s class;

Sunday May 4th at 2:00 pm for students in Ms. Baldinelli and Ms. Ricci’s class.

Students outside of the school can come either day.

So, if your child is in grade 2 or is over 6 years old, please fill out the first communion registration form by clicking this link:

The deadline for registration is November 29th.

FAQ for parents:

How do I register?

Simply click on this form:

https://stalexander.wufoo.com/forms/zck8s3g172d2p2/

What if my child doesn’t go to St. Alexander?

Click on the registration form and indicate what school your child goes to on the form. Your child is welcome to join either of the two dates for first communion in 2025. In addition, we would like to offer some special classes for your child to help them prepare for first communion. You will be contacted with information and schedules once you submit your form.

My child is not Catholic, can they still receive first communion?

It depends. First communion is a sacrament of initiation and they are actually joining the Catholic church and becoming catholic. Which is great! However, if you are an active member of another denomination and it is not your intention to actually become catholic, then, out of respect for your beliefs and religious practices, they would not be able to receive communion. They are welcome to join in the first communion ceremony and receive a blessing instead of communion.

My child is not baptized or is baptized in another denomination:

If your child would still like to receive first communion and become catholic, then they will need to be baptized. There is a baptism ceremony just for this on Sunday January 19th at 2:00 pm. Please indicate this on the form (there is a question about this).

How is my child being prepared for first communion?

Those children who are in St. Alexander school will be prepared by the teacher and the pastor (Fr. Paul). Those who are not at St. Alexander’s school will be asked to attend a few special classes run by one of our volunteers with the support and involvement of Fr. Paul. The goal here is that you and your children are able to enjoy everything that first communion has to offer for their spiritual lives. Additional first communion resources are available online at

The videos are available free, and the workbook is also free, you just have to pay shipping.

When will my child go to confession for the first time?

Normally, confession happens before they receive first communion. This year, we are offering a special “first reconciliation” evening on the Friday before their first communion at 5:00 pm. At that moment, priests will be available for individual confession for the children. Parents are welcome to come to confession as well. Please remember the “seal of confession,” that everything the child tells the priest is under the strictest of confidence. They will be prepared for confession as part of their preparation for first communion, and they will practice it in the church in the afternoon as a review for them. This is meant to be a very positive experience for them, an opportunity to cleanse their souls before receiving the bread of life.
